Dislocated Concert

Plasctic Crowds

September, 20th, 19.30h CET (GTM+2:00)

To be able to make music, we need space and time. These are two essential requirements for this art, without them it could not exist.

It is a fleeting art that it is developed in the time and needs a place to become. With the existence of the recordings systems, actual comunication systems and new technologies, this need is more and more vague. Into de Postmodern context, the No Place Concept is more important everytime in dayly life, because we are there a lot of time.

Internet is a No Place, the Big No Place of our times. It is a net in which everybody is conected and it seems that distances are shortened, but not really, in fact they do not exist. In Internet there is no time nor space; they are simple conventionalisms agreed on parameters that they let us to live in this enviroment. [...]

The proposal introduced here, try to get a Sonic No Place. To dislocate a concert. This will be achieved extracting sounds in different places, and after this mixing them in the No Place, making a complete sonic entity as a consecuence of the sum of the different parts. [...]

Encontros

Revised Version, 2013

For Clarinet, Violín & Violoncello

July, 1st

...if nothing happened, there would be no last time; if nothing were to come, there would be no future time; if nothing were, there would be no present time. How are, therefore, those two times, past and future, if the past is no longer and the future is not yet? And the present, if it is always present, and do not pass  to preterite, it would be no time, but eternity...

RFG presents its new subscription season 2013 - 2014

Santiago de Compostela

June, 27th

The technician teams of the Real Filharmonía and Auditorio of Galicia have presented the new concerts season with a real bet for the novelties and the objective to increase the relationship between the public and the orchestra. The union between Music and Word will be one of the pillars on wich this season will turn, the first that Paul Daniel will lead such as artistic director and main director. We will find the Word in several works with narrator like Egmont, of Beethoven, Th Seven Last Words of our Savior on the Cross, of Haydn or in the traditional Epiphany Concert, a monograph about Satie. In adittion, we impulse CONversamos con (Talks with), an initiative in which directors and artists share with the public their expiriences and information an hour before of the begining of every concert.

At the same time, we will try to promote new composer’s works such as Van der Aa, Brett Dean, also Galician composers as Octavio Vázquez, Fernando Buide or Juan Eiras, not forgetting about big classical repertoire such as Beethoven, Mozart, Mahler, Brahms or Haydn.

Cantos da maré

Revised Version, 2013

For Ensemble

June, 21st

Cantos da maré (Songs of the Tide) represents a calm sea, although in a constant movement, where gestures are developed within a big accumulation process of textures, timbres and dynamics.

Process that it is interrupted by four rings, everyone with different energy, and they play an important place into the dramaturgy of the work, because they articulate the discourse in circles in an hypnotic way, like sirens’ songs.

Lughnasadh

For Symphony Orchestra

June, 18th

Lughnasadh is a Celtic celebration consagrated to god Lugh, that still exists in the contemporary Irish tradition. It is one of the four big festivities together with Samhain, Imbolc and Beltane.

Nowadays it is celebrated on the last Sunday of July, however in its origins the day was variable, because the Celt calendar was made over Moon cicles, Sun and harvest cicles. In the modern celebration, that it was assimilated by Catholic Religion, they go on pilgrimage to templates situated over hills and mountains, as Celtic people did.

Lughnasadh is the name of the Summer period too, and some names of European cities, such as Lugo, Lyon or Luganes, among others, derive etymologically of Lugh.
